UPDATE: On Tuesday, December 20th, clergy of many faiths gathered at Lowe's national headquarters in North Carolina to deliver over 200,000 petitions — demanding that they reverse their decision to side with extremism in stopping advertising on All-American Muslim. The petitions were gathered with the support of Groundswell, Change.org, CREDO, Sum of Us, and People for the American Way and delivered by our partner Faithful America.

Plus, local news got everything in print:

Groundswell is pushing back on efforts by hard-line religious organizations to intimidate American companies who advertise during All-American Muslim on TLC.
Sign our petition calling on Lowe's to stand up for American values, and to reject rhetoric fueled by fear. All-American Muslim is TLC's bold new reality TV show that follows Muslim American families in Dearborn, MI. It has all the features of reality television – funny, dramatic, sensational, addictive – but it also tackles real-world struggles: family and marriage, racism, religious conflict, and how life changed after 9/11. It's the first truly mainstream portrait of Muslims in America.
But late last week, fringe anti-Muslim groups pressured companies to pull their advertising dollars from the show - and sadly, it worked. Lowe's Home Improvement, Kayak, and other companies caved to the request, a request fueled by bigotry and racism.
In this holiday season, a time of coming together and binding ties of compassion, please take a moment to sign the petition, share with your friends, and tune in to the show this month – Sundays at 10/9c on TLC.

My Catholic faith and my experience of family have taught me that God has more than enough love to go around for everyone, gay or straight.
Auburn Seminary was proud to join a coalition of religious women's organizations in congratulating Catholic nuns on their inspiring work to feed the hungry, cloth the poor, and advocate for the least among us, despite recent attacks on their views.

I learned that the “organization” that pressured Lowe’s is allegedly an one person opportunist similiar to the “pastor” who promoted the Quran burning event. I would love to see your organization further expose the source of the hate or hate for hire operations that pressure and harass businesses to accomodate their complaints. As evident in the church that created horrid yet threatening protests during funerals for military personnel and in the “pro-life” associations that have killed and promote the killing of doctors who perform abortions the source is the problem that appear to escape responsibility. Similiary most legitimate and established Christian organizations and churches do absolutely nothing to condemn these persistent and life threatening actions conducted under the banner of Christianity. I do not condone Lowe’s response however feel that they too need help from the public to protect themselves and their employees. In this respect their honest and truthful response exposes what truly needs to be eradicated and what government support is necessary in enforcing the rule of law. Although Lowe’s response was an inexcusable dereliction from their claim of Equal Opportunity Employment it was not a case in which the company harassed or fired an employee on discriminatory and/or racist terms. It’s a shame that Lowe’s could not report the incident as attempts of extortion for monetary gain. I sincerely hope your movement will place the ultimate accountability on the source of hate and those who benefit by fanning the flame for fun or for profit while real people suffer the consequences of being targeted and harassed. I totally agree with the mayor of Dearborn and I hope that you feature his response as a follow up to this unfornate incident.
