GS of Community #ReligiousPluralism

In response to the August 5th massacre of worshipers in a Sikh gurdwara (house of worship) in Oak Creek, WI, we joined thousands in an outpouring of love and support for the Sikh American community.

Now we are stepping up to combat hate against all Americans. What we do together in the next 100 days can help define the next 20 years for our country. Join us!

Ask the FBI to Track Hate Crimes Against Sikhs

We are asking Attorney General Eric Holder to urge the FBI to count hate crimes against Sikhs, as they do other racial and religious minorities.  We believe that the Sikh victims in Oak Creek deserve at least the dignity of being counted as a statistic.  Sign the letter here.

Host a Film Screening, Dialogue, and Service Project on Your Campus

We are equipping colleges and universities to create events in response to the Oak Creek tragedy as part of President Obama's Interfaith Campus Challenge.  We can help your campus host a film screening and dialogue, followed by a year-long service project.  Click here to find out how to bring storytelling and service to your college campus.

Groundswell, is proud to work in partnership with the Sikh Coalition, the Sikh American and Legal Defense Fund, and Interfaith Youth Core. In 2011, Groundswell connected, resourced, and promoted 300 events in 42 states and 90 cities across the country that stood for remembrance, renewal and compassion on the ten-year anniversary of 9/11.   We helped to collect over 10,000 Ribbons of Hope, woven together in a tapestry that displayed our thoughts, hopes and prayers for years to come. Responding to the tragedy in Oak Creek is a continuation of this work.
